Where it started
One hobby rarely stays one hobby.
For us, reef tanks led to freshwater. Freshwater led to plants. Then came reptiles, invertebrates, and the next question waiting to be explored.
That journey began online with a shared Wiki, grew into ReefScales, and became Zoekee as our interests expanded.
Curiosity has a way of compounding. You learn one ecosystem and begin noticing another. Before long, your shelves are full, your camera roll makes sense only to another hobbyist, and you have more saved links than you could ever organize.
Different species. Different communities. The same familiar experience.
The internet today
Answers became instant. Confidence didn’t.
Getting an answer has never been easier. Search is better than it has ever been. Videos can show us what words cannot. And AI is one of the greatest learning tools ever created.
Information is no longer scarce.
But even after finding an answer, we still catch ourselves wondering:
Is this current?
Does it apply to my situation?
Has anyone actually done this?
What does the community think?
What has changed?
AI accelerates learning. Communities create experience. We believe both belong together.
The realization
The problem wasn’t information.
The problem wasn’t communities.
The problem was fragmentation.
Every platform solves an important part of the journey—knowledge, discussion, video, shopping, events, or inspiration. But people shouldn’t have to piece together ten different websites just to enjoy one passion.
Why Zoekee exists
One passion should feel like one journey.
We imagined a place where learning could lead naturally to a conversation, where someone else’s experience could give an answer context, and where inspiration could become something you try in the real world.
A place where knowledge can keep evolving instead of getting buried. Where communities stay valuable because the people inside them are valuable. Where discovering an event, an idea, or the right next step feels connected to everything that brought you there.
Zoekee isn’t here to replace the communities people already love. It exists to connect more of the journey around them.
People should spend less time navigating platforms and more time enjoying what they care about.

We’re still hobbyists.
We’re Alejandro and Tito, the brothers who founded Zoekee.
Still learning. Still asking questions. Still finding new things to care about.
We’re building Zoekee the same way we approach our hobbies: with curiosity, patience, and the belief that experience is better when it can be shared.
